Dr. Melissa Baird
Dr. Melissa Baird joined Clearview Cancer Institute in 2019 when Clearview merged with Anniston Oncology. Before working at Anniston Oncology, she was Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While at UAB, she also served as a Medical Director at Wiregrass Hospice and UAB Medical West Hospice.
Dr. Baird completed a fellowship in hematology-oncology at The University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor in 1995, where she was later a Lecturer. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency at UT Southwestern Parkland Memorial Hospital/Dallas VA Medical Center in Dallas in 1992. She attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She completed three years of a pathology residency post graduation at Harbor UCLA Medical Center before changing her professional focus to direct patient care.
Additional noteworthy experience while at UAB includes Assistant Fellowship Director, Hemophilia Clinic Director, Anticoagulation Clinic Director, and Sickle Cell Clinic Director, in addition to a full general hematology and oncology clinic, hospital practice and other academic responsibilities. She was a member of the NCCN Venous Thromboembolism treatment guideline panel. She has been Principal Investigator on several national clinical trials, and has published numerous articles, abstracts and poster presentations.
Her professional memberships include Alpha Omega Alpha, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, Medical Association of the State of Alabama and Calhoun County Medical Association.
