The Clearview Cancer Institute Huntsville – Russel Hill location is conveniently located down the street from Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL. This 110,000 sq ft building has all the services and amenities needed by cancer patients and patients with blood disorders located under one roof. In addition to medical oncology and hematology, it has radiation oncology, blood transfusion, outpatient therapy, diagnostic imaging, genetic testing, genetic counseling, genomic testing, lung cancer screening, a team of social workers and financial counselors and stage I-IV clinical trials.

Medical oncology is the treatment of cancer with medicine such as chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormones. Our medical oncologists treat all types of cancers, such as tumors and blood cancers, with the most innovative treatments available, including infusions. Infusions are treatments given through the veins with a solution created by medical specialists.

Radiation oncology is a specialty dedicated to the treatment of cancer through radiation, or in combination with surgery and/or chemotherapy. The two main types of radiation therapy are external beam therapy and internal radiation therapy. These therapies are used to release radioactive substances into small areas of the body to avoid damaging normal tissue not affected by cancer.
Hematology treatment for blood disease may involve medications, blood transfusions, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a bone marrow transplant. Your treatment plan will depend on the specific characteristics of the blood disorder you have been diagnosed with, and what path your doctor has discussed with you.

Unfortunately, the delivery of cancer therapy, like chemotherapy, often affects the body’s normal organs and healthy tissues. The consequence of damaging healthy tissue and affecting other organs not touched by cancer, is a complication, or side effect, of treatment. As part of the treatment plan, side effects are measured and recorded, to make sure our patients continue to be taken care of. Some treatments may be added, to help ease the side effects you may experience, but they may not be able to be altered too much, to avoid interruption of treatment effectiveness.

The Huntsville Clinic is North Alabama’s largest community-based cancer clinic and treats patients from all over North Alabama and Tennessee.
